TORONTO (January 9, 2014) – Bell Media’s MuchFACT (A Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent) is proud to announce the appointment of Rick Brace as Chairman of the organization. Brace joins MuchFACT following the tenure of his predecessor David Kines, who had been in the role since March 2011. Brace’s appointment takes effect immediately.
Rick Brace is one of the most highly regarded media executives in Canada. Brace recently retired as President, Specialty Channels and CTV Production, Bell Media, after a successful, nearly 40-year career. In this role, Brace oversaw the development, commissioning, and scheduling strategies for the company’s specialty channels, including Much, MTV, M3, Discovery, The Comedy Network, E!, Space, and Bravo.

During his tenure at Bell Media, Rick Brace helped re-invigorate the company’s specialty channel division and in-house productions. Brace spearheaded the launch of THE SOCIAL and oversaw THE MARILYN DENIS SHOW, ETALK and INNERSPACE, and the annual MUCHMUSIC VIDEO AWARDS. Brace first joined the company in 1986 as one of TSN’s pioneers, and wasinstrumental in shaping the network’s identity asCanada’s Sports Leader.
As MuchFACT Chairman, David Kines oversaw the awarding of almost nine million dollars in funding to over 800 projects for artists such as City and Colour, Dragonette, JRDN, Kayo, Metric, Mia Martina, P. Reign, Serena Ryder, Shad, SonReal, and Wake Owl. Kines was integral in numerous artist successes during his tenure at MuchFACT, including the launch of Carly Rae Jepsen’s mega-hit “Call Me Maybe” which, after receiving a MuchFACT grant in 2011, went eight-times platinum in Canada and currently has more than 500 million views on YouTube.
