Bell Media’s MuchFACT Announces Fund Recipients for October 3, 2014 Music Committee
TORONTO (October 6, 2014) – Bell Media’s MuchFACT (A Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent) announced today the 32 fund recipients from the October 3, 2014 music committee meeting. With more than 176 applications considered, a total of $513,430 was awarded to Canadian musicians in the following categories: Music Content Package, Music Videos, Online Music Video/Project, and Digital Tools.
Videos created with the support of MuchFACT continue to garner recognition and make waves around the world. Vancouver’s Grimes continues to take the world by storm with her latest video “Go”, featuring DJ/Producer Blood Diamonds, which has amassed more than 2 million views on YouTube to date. Toronto band Death From Above 1979 have seen success with their MuchFACT-funded video “Trainwreck 1979”, which has more than 500,000 views on YouTube and was recently profiled in Rolling Stone.
MuchFACT-supported videos were on display this past weekend in Toronto as part of Out of Site, the all-night exhibition of art and music by independent Canadian artists, held in conjunction with Nuit Blanche. MuchFACT: Under the Stars featured a selection of curated music videos accompanied by a light installation created by local independent artists Patrick Dinnen and Brent Marshall.
