VideoFACT changes name to MuchFACT as MuchMusic takes on exclusive funding

(Toronto, September 3, 2009) VideoFACT is changing its name to MuchFACT, as CTV’s MuchMusic and MuchMore take on exclusive funding beginning immediately, MuchFACT chairman Bernie Finkelstein announced today.

The change comes as Astral Media’s MusiquePlus begins flowing music video production expenditure independently through MaxFACT, administered by Les Fonds Harold Greenberg in Montreal, QC.

"We are honoured to have played a significant role in the video business in Quebec and will miss our close association with MusiquePlus," said Finklestein. "However we are confident in MaxFACT’s continuing support of the tradition and evolution of the Francophone music scene, and the next generation of its stars."

"Over the past 25 years, VideoFACT has helped advance the careers of Canadian artists everywhere by funding their music videos, EPKs and websites," said Brad Schwartz, SVP and GM of The Much MTV Group, CTV Inc. "We are honoured to have this initiative re-named as MuchFACT accurately representing MuchMusic’s exclusive support to this vital part of the Canadian music industry."

Due to this administrative change, approved by the CRTC in MusiquePlus’s recent licence renewal (Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2009-399), as of September 1, 2009, MuchFACT can no longer accept applications for French language music videos. All French language music video applications will now be administered by MaxFACT.

MuchFACT’s eligibility criteria and mandate remains the same as VideoFACT’s eligibility criteria and mandate. Complete eligibility criteria for MuchFACT is available at www.muchfact.ca or www.videofact.ca .

The PromoFACT new media program, funded entirely by MuchMore, remains unchanged with the exception that the program now accepts submissions for digital EPKs and music related content. Eligibility criteria and guidelines may also be found at www.muchfact.ca or www.videofact.ca .

MuchFACT remains an independent non-profit corporation, governed entirely by a board of directors made up of television and music industry experts.
